About
Site analysis
Site Analysis is the foundation to all Architectural projects. It ensures the intervention's reaction to the tangible and intangible characteristics of the project site's surroundings.

Learning from year 1, the tangible aspects of the site can be referred to as the climatic factors - wind, sun, rain, views & sights.
The intangible factors learnt from year 1 also included the history and emotion/atmosphere of the site.

This year, site analysis included another factor, the site's Genius Loci, in English, the spirit of the place.
This was especially important for the site, with this year's site being the historical site of Keppel Harbour.

The given site is Keppel Harbour, the current PSA port @ Keppel. With URA's plan to convert the land to residential schemes, the given masterplan is as below. Being assigned a plot for each student, site analysis was to be carried out, both as an individual for the plot and as a group for the Genius Loci of the site and its surroundings.

The main challenge of this was the inaccessibility of the actual site, therefore there was much assumptions as well as rough gauges with regards to the site. However, the surroundings of the site was observed and experienced first-hand.
