Active Sustainable Strategies
(environmental Science)

About the
research topic

The research topic is to research on 3 active systems, that could be integrated into an architectural scheme, which promotes sustainability.

This sustainability came in 3 aspects:

A. Renewable energy (Solar Power Harvesting and Energy harvested from high wind-speed costal developments through wind turbines and generators)

B. Temperature reduction façade systems (Vertical and high-rise greenery systems, automated façade screens with temperature detection system, etc)

C. Water Recycling (Rain water harvesting for development usage, irrigation, grey water usage, thermal mass heat reduction, etc)

Tasked to research on 2 of the 3 aspects of sustainability, the research was to be integrated into one of the team member's project in its current condition, in the most efficient way.

System 1 (C):
Compost systems
The chosen active system is a foam-flushed compost system, with its precedence in Seattle, Bullitt Centre - The Net-Zero building.

This system, coupled with rainwater collection, renders Net-Zero water wastage in the commercial building of Bullitt Centre.
